Dorothy Gwynn-Johnson

Dorothy Gwynn-Johnson was born on April 5th, 1921 in Columbus, OH. She was the daughter of Robert and Fannie Gwynn.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Lawrence and Charles.
She departed this life on April 29th, 2016 at the age of 95. Dorothy attended Columbus Schools through high school. She married Robert Johnson on August 4th, 1940. They moved to Cleveland, OH and Dorothy attended Fenn College and began working as a school secretary in Cleveland Schools. She retired from her work in July of 1986 after 40 years of service. She was one of the first members of the Lambda Zeta Chi sorority in Columbus, OH. She was a member of Mt. Zion Congregational Church in Cleveland from 1960-1998 and served on the usher board as a member of the Women's Fellowship. Dorothy moved to Westerville, OH in November of 1998 where she became a member of the Westerville Community United Church of Christ on October 23, 2005 and remained as a member until her passing.
She leaves behind her devoted daughter, Donna; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 11:00am at the Westerville Community United Church of Christ, 770 County Line Rd. Westerville, OH 43081 with Rev. Dr. Sigrid Rother officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Museum of the American Indian, Re: Dorothy Johnson Memorial Fund, PO Box 23473 Washington DC, 20026.
