Dwight Burkhart
Dwight Burkhart peacefully entered into eternal rest on June 22, 2025, surrounded by love and faith. Born and raised in Marr, Ohio, Dwight proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in Thailand from 1964–1968, supporting the Vietnam War. He later dedicated 30 years to General Motors, known for his strong work ethic and reliability.
A longtime member of Amvets Post 89, VFW, American Legion, and the Eagles, Dwight cherished the friendships he made through these communities. A faithful member of St. Joan of Arc, his spiritual life was central to who he was.
An avid bass fisherman, Dwight found joy on the water—both in Lewis Center and in Florida. He was a quiet soul with a big heart, always ready with a smile and a kind word.
Preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Martha Burkhart, and sister Sylvia Carpenter, Dwight is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Marilyn; stepdaughter Angie (Terrence) Whitfield; grandchildren Ashley Tuner, Katie and Brandyn Watson; four great-grandchildren; brother Tom Burkhart; sister Clarice West; and many dear friends who became family.
