Edgar Albert Thompson II, born on July 29, 1945, in Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio. He was a man known for his wit, his deep love for his children, grandchildren, and his devotion to family. Edgar was a great provider and cherished the time he spent surrounded by those he loved.
Edgar graduated from Pleasant View High School in 1963 and furthered his education by earning a degree in Business Management from Franklin University in 1980. His career was marked by dedication, notably serving as the Manager of the print shop at Cardinal Foods and working at Hikma Pharmaceuticals.
Among his proudest accomplishments was his role as Chapter advisor of Darby Valley Demolay, a youth group affiliated with the Masonic Lodge. Edgar was a Twice Past Master of Masonic Lodge #221 in West Jefferson, Ohio, demonstrating his commitment and leadership within this community. He was a proud member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Grove City, Ohio.
Edgar found joy in simple pleasures such as gardening, particularly flower gardening, where his remarkable "green thumb" was well known. He also enjoyed working with electronic trains, revealing a playful and creative side to his personality.
He is survived by his son, Sean Thompson, and Sean’s wife, Nicole; his daughter, Heather Thompson; grandchildren Andrew Thompson and his wife Emily, Haley Reid, Chase Thompson and his wife Katherine, and Sierra Rose Reid; great-grandchildren Elena and Sophia Thompson; his special friend, Connie Pilkington; and many extended family members who will all miss his presence dearly.
Edgar was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara Sue (Hall) Thompson, and his parents, Edgar and Ruth (Slater) Thompson.
His legacy is one of love, leadership, and dedication to family and community. Edgar Albert Thompson II will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
The family appreciates the care and dedication of the staff and residents at National Church Residences of Lincoln Village Assisted Living, and Hospice Care 360.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Madison County Humane Society.
