Edward Blair Bokar

Edward Blair Bokar, age 54, passed away on December 27, 2025, at The Ohio State University Ross Heart Hospital, surrounded by those he cherished most. 

For 27 years, Ed shared a devoted marriage with his wife, Valerie Wendel-Bokar. Their love was steady, genuine, and rooted in partnership. Above all else, Ed was a proud and deeply dedicated father to his son, Anthony. His family was his purpose, his compass, and his greatest joy. Every decision he made reflected his unwavering commitment to those he loved most. Ed carried with him a warmth and loyalty that would define every chapter of his life. 

Born in Barberton, Ohio, Ed was the beloved son of David and Andrea Bokar, who preceded him in death, along with his brother, Doug Bokar. Ed is survived by his wife Valerie; his son Anthony; his sister Beverly Frazier; his brother Tim Bokar; beloved nieces; and an extended family & friends who will forever carry his laughter, guidance, and kindness with them. 

A 1989 graduate of Ellet High School, Ed went on to build a career defined by loyalty and hard work. He was employed by The Hillman Group for over 26 years, where his dedication, reliability, and integrity earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike. 

Ed lived life with enthusiasm and heart. He was a passionate supporter of his hometown teams—the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians, and the Ohio State Buckeyes—and his loyalty to Cleveland sports mirrored the loyalty he showed to the people in his life. Music was another lifelong love. From punk rock to every genre in between, Ed found joy in sound and expression, even hosting his own radio show, Hot Rod Radio, during his young adult years—a reflection of his vibrant spirit and unmistakable personality. 

Known for his big smile, he was kind, endlessly giving, fiercely dedicated, and above all, a fighter. Whether facing life’s challenges or celebrating its joys, Ed met each moment with strength and determination. He loved traveling, especially beach vacations, where the rhythm of the waves matched the calm he brought to those around him.

 Though his time on this earth was far too short, Ed’s impact was profound. His love, laughter, and values will continue to guide his family and friends in the days ahead. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion, resilience, and unconditional love—one that will never fade.

 A Celebration of Life honoring Edward Bokar will be planned in the spring. In the meantime, those who knew and loved him are invited to remember Ed not only for the way he lived, but for the way he made others feel: seen, supported, and deeply loved.
