Edward W. VanTilburg "Ed" passed away at Mount Carmel West Hospital on December 4, 2015 in Columbus, Ohio at the age 77.
Ed is survived by his wife, Carolyn L. (Slonaker) VanTilburg, three sons, Robert L. VanTilburg, Timothy W. VanTilburg, and Brian K. VanTilburg, and one daughter, Tiffany A. (VanTilburg) Booher. Also, two daughters-in-law Lisa and Stephanie VanTilburg, one son-in-law, Curt Booher, twelve loving grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
Ed was born on February 18, 1938 in Columbus, Ohio to Robert W. VanTilburg and Clara L. (Green) VanTilburg. He served four years in the U.S. Navy and married the love of his life in 1963. Ed enjoyed a long career as a plumber with the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 189 for 52 years and was a fourth degree knight of the Knights of Columbus council #809. Friends and family remember Ed as kind, gentle, humble, loyal, patient, and "always smiling". There wasn't much that he couldn't do whether woodworking, remodeling, fixing the car, or dancing in his daughter's recitals.
A memorial service will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home in Grove City, Ohio on Thursday, December 10th from 5:00-7:00pm followed by a brief ceremony at 7:00pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ed's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Knights of Columbus at 684 South Third Street, Columbus, OH 43206 or The Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that was dear to Ed's heart.
