Eleanor Francis Klein, 79, fondly known as "'Nor," passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026, at Laurels of West Columbus Nursing Home in Columbus, Ohio. Born Eleanor Francis Gunn on April 23, 1947, in Columbus, she lived a life marked by devotion to family, faith, and the simple joys that enriched her heart.
A beloved member of Central Baptist Church in Columbus, Eleanor found great comfort and community within her faith. Her attendance and active participation in the church were a testament to her deep spiritual commitment and her desire to connect with others in worship and fellowship.
Eleanor’s passions were many and varied. She was an avid reader, finding solace and adventure within the pages of countless books. Equally important to her were the moments spent with family and dear friends, cherishing each encounter with warmth and genuine care. A devoted companion to her cherished cat, Smokey, Eleanor’s nurturing spirit extended beyond humans, embodying kindness and gentle care for all living beings.
Eleanor is survived by her son, John W. (Kristen Buchholtz) Klein IV, and grandson, Kaden Buchholtz, who carry forward her legacy of love and family devotion. She is also survived by her siblings Linda (David) Lewis, Peggy Morrison, Donald (Jeanna) Gunn, Steve Gunn, and Ed Gunn, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John W. Klein III; her parents, Charles and Eleanor (Neeshan) Gunn; and siblings Jim Gunn, Ralph Gunn, Ray Gunn, and Sharon Gunn. Their memories remain a cherished part of her story.
The family will receive friends and loved ones for a visitation on May 6, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at 6:00 p.m., with Pastor Tim Womack officiating.
In remembering Eleanor, we celebrate a life graced with kindness, faith, and enduring love. Her gentle presence will be deeply missed but forever treasured by all who had the privilege to know her.
