Eleanor Louise Hopkins Fletcher, 83, passed away Monday, December 1, 2014, in her sleep at her home in Worthington Christian Village.
Born March 21, 1931, in Bloomingburg, Ohio she also lived in Washington Court House, Columbus, Grafton, Gahanna, New Albany and Newcomerstown, Ohio. A gifted artist, she was a member of the American Watercolor Society, a founding member of the Gahanna Art League and Roscoe Village Quilters. She participated in many juried art shows and won numerous Best of Show awards for her paintings. A member of the United Methodist Church, she was an active leader in many women's circles and activities. With her endless creative energy, she knitted hundreds of hats for cancer patients throughout central Ohio.
Survived by son Richard Douglas Hopkins and wife Rose of Marengo, OH; daughters Trudy Pieper and husband Hal of Johnstown, OH; Judy Dee Sweeney and husband Glen of Dublin, OH; Jody Penrod and husband Don of Powell, OH; Grandchildren Ben (Jessica) Pieper, Ken (Vivi) Pieper, Rick (Rebecca) Hopkins, Eric Sweeney, Robyn (Jason) Houze, Christina (Rick) Thompson, Kyle Sweeney, Randi Hopkins and Alexis Penrod; 5 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Janet Looker; nieces Kim Semer,Jennifer (Matt) Merklin and Sarah Looker; and previous husband Richard E Hopkins.
Preceded in death by husband, Roy David Fletcher; parents, Delbert and Marjorie Looker; brother, Norman Bud Looker.
Viewing will be held 5-8 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 E Dublin-Granville Rd, Columbus, OH 43231, Thursday, December 4, 2014. Graveside services at Bloomingburg Cemetery, 1:30 PM Friday, December 5, 2014.
