Eleanor Ann Nicholson, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, at the age of 89, in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio. Born on July 11, 1936, Eleanor lived a life rich with love, dedication, and adventure, leaving behind a legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of all who knew her.

A graduate of Central High School in 1955, Eleanor went on to build a meaningful career as a paralegal at Automobile Club Insurance, where she served faithfully from 1974 until her retirement in 2002. Her professional life was marked by a strong work ethic and an unwavering commitment to those she served, qualities that mirrored her genuine and caring nature.

Eleanor’s vivacious spirit extended far beyond her career. Known for her social, loving, and kind personality, she was a beacon of support and warmth to family and friends alike. People were naturally drawn to her caring heart and infectious enthusiasm for life. She found great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. Housework was more than a chore to Eleanor; it was a labor of love, a way she expressed her devotion to creating a welcoming home for those she adored.

After retirement, Eleanor embraced a new passion for walking and exploration. Joining the Volksmarch walking club, she impressively journeyed through all 88 counties of Ohio and walked in every state in the Union, visiting all but one of the state capitals. These adventures reflected her zest for life and her remarkable spirit of determination and curiosity.

Eleanor also treasured simple joys: lively Thursday night dinners with loved ones and Sunday family outings became treasured traditions that enriched her days and strengthened her bonds with those closest to her.

She is survived by her devoted sons, Terry and Robert (Kimberley) Nicholson, daughter-in-law Lori Nicholson. Her loving grandchildren—Roger, Jennifer (Jim) Gear, Julie, Candice (Charles) Kerchner, Cierra, and Jacob—alongside her great-grandchildren David, Kailee, Jimmy, Evie, Scarlett, Nathaniel, and Evelyn, carried forward her legacy of love and warmth. Eleanor’s sister, Beatrice Fulton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members, also survive to cherish her memory.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Beatrice (Pfoutz) Weikert, her son Michael, and her sisters Rosie Swiss and Karen Neighborgall, whose spirits remain intertwined with hers in eternal remembrance.

The family will hold a visitation on June 11, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., followed immediately by a memorial service at 2pm, both at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway in Grove City, Ohio.

Eleanor Ann Nicholson’s life was a testament to kindness, strength, and an unyielding love for family and community. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her—a shining light and a beautiful soul who walked this world with grace and boundless love.
