Elizabeth Ann Hale Pettey, a beacon of love and strength, was born on January 21, 1952, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Theron C. Hale and Elizabeth W. Hale. She peacefully departed this life on March 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy woven with kindness and inspiration.
Elizabeth's early years were filled with laughter and learning as she attended Columbus Public Schools. An industrious spirit led her to pursue higher education, graduating from Ohio State University in 1981 with a B.S. in Industrial Design. In her quest for knowledge, she later earned an Associate of Science in Architecture from Columbus State Community College in 2003. A proud member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society, she also cherished her connections with both the Ohio State University and Columbus State Community College Alumni Associations.
Faith played a significant role in Elizabeth's life. At an early age, she accepted Christ and became a devoted member of Mt. Vernon A.M.E. Church, where she found community, support, and purpose.
Elizabeth's warmth and dedication will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Charles L. Pettey Jr., who stood by her side through thick and thin. She is also survived by her beloved grandson, Rico Pettey, who will carry forward her spirit and values. She is preceded in death by, brother Terrence L. Hale (Cynthia)
While her father, Theron C. Hale, and mother, Elizabeth Williams, have now passed on, their influence shaped the remarkable woman Elizabeth became. Her enduring legacy, characterized by her dedication to family, faith, and education, lives on in the hearts of those she has touched throughout her journey. Elizabeth Ann Pettey will be profoundly missed, yet her love and light remain with us forever.
