Ella Jane Hairston

September 29, 1919 — June 6, 2019

I am here, but not in the way I once was. I am here in the hearts and minds of those who loved me, and those I was blessed to love. For me, life has been a wonderful journey, knowing God, living a sanctified life and sharing with the people He placed in my life.

I was born September 29, 1919, to the late Charles and Lelia Anderson in Worth, West Virginia. I am the last of my siblings to go home. On May 24, 1939, I married the love of my life, Charles W. Hairston. We then began our journey of raising our five (5) children; Taledia (deceased), Charles, John (Sandra), Delma and Ronald (Cynthia). I was affectionately called "muh" by my children, which began when Taledia could only pronounce the first syllable of "mother". She started calling me "muh" and the name caught on as the other children came along.

I lived in Worth, Eckman and Landgraff, West Virginia until 1959 when we moved to Yonkers, NY. In 2009, I moved to Birmingham Alabama to live with my oldest son, Charles, until 2011. Then I moved to Wildomar, California and to Phoenix, Arizona with my son, John.

I remained a devoted wife for 36 years until my husband passed away in 1975 after a sustained illness. Although I was devastated at losing him, I relied on God, my religious beliefs and devotion of my family and friends to get me through those hard times. I was a faithful member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Yonkers, NY. I loved going to church and taking church sponsored trips. Much of my spare time was spent reading the bible. I enjoyed keeping house and cooking for my husband and family. I loved traveling to Columbus, Ohio to visit and spend time with my sisters and their families.

I was preceded in death by my husband Charles W, daughter Taledia, parents Charles and Lelia, brother Calvin, sisters Mary, Carrie, Irene, Rosalie and grandson LeRoy.

God has blessed me with the love of my family and children:
· 13 Grand Children: Tony, Deborah, Carey, Nicole, Kevin, Dwayne, LeRoy (deceased), Valerie, David, Jeanine, Rhonda, Roni and Anise
· 27 Great Grandchildren and
· 8 Great Great Grandchildren
· With special regards to my faithful daughter in law Pamela, my niece Tina, Ruth Wilson and Sheilah Grimes
Thank you for coming to share in my home going service. Take peace in knowing that I am having a joyful reunion with my family in Heaven.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 15, 2019 from 9:30am to 10am with a funeral service to follow at 10am at Newcomer NE Chapel 3047 E.. Dublin Granville Rd. Columbus. Burial will be at Eastlawn Cemetery.

I am now alive in God.
