Elvera Wheeler Fox, lovingly remembered as a vibrant force of nature, passed away on December 10, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 92. Born on February 12, 1933, in Columbus, she brought joy to those around her with an outgoing personality and a passion for life that endeared her to many.
Elvera's career as a Secretary for Civil Defense at Rickenbacker Air Force Base was just one reflection of her dedication and commitment to serving her community. She was a proud graduate of South High School, class of 1951, who always carried a love for learning and connection. Her greatest treasures, however, were not found in her accomplishments, but in her loving family.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Karen (Chris) Clifford and Sharon (Joe) Myers, along with her cherished grandchildren: Reanna (Jaime) Parham, Sean Clifford, Kevin (Amy) Clifford, and Christopher (Becky) Clifford. Elvera's legacy continues to thrive through her great-grandchildren, Logan, Ellaina, Liam, Alex, Anna, Scott, Paige, Cooper, and Piper, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Elvera's warmth and zest for life were vividly demonstrated in her passions. She brightened the stage, singing karaoke and enthralling audiences with her performances alongside a live band at Universal Studios, Florida. Her adventurous spirit led her to unforgettable experiences, from swimming with dolphins and tigers to attending the Ohio State game at the Rose Bowl in 2019—events that became cherished memories.
For over 30 years, Elvera spent her winters in Florida, embracing the sun and creating endless joyful moments with family and friends. She had a remarkable ability to connect with others; her amiable nature meant she could strike up a conversation with anyone, and her numerous friendships are a testament to the love she poured into her interactions.
Elvera is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Roma (Bates) Roseberry, her first husband, Robert Wheeler, and her second husband, Roy Fox, Jr. Their memories carry forward as part of the rich tapestry of her life.
A visitation will be held on December 18, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, in Grove City, Ohio. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 1:00 PM, leading to a graveside service at Obetz Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
