Emma Eileen Bentley

Emma Eileen Bentley, 98, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, at Hoover Haus Assisted Living in Grove City, Ohio, where she was surrounded by compassionate caregivers and many dear friends. Born on February 14, 1927, in Mason, Ohio, Emma lived a life filled with love, laughter, and generosity.

Emma was a spirited, funny, and loving woman who had a remarkable gift for making people feel like family. She joyfully claimed many as her own and cherished the connections she formed throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Bentley; her cherished daughter, Pamela Colburn; her siblings Opal Hunter, Helen Mitton, Delbert Mason, Dorothy Remy, and Gladys Harper; and her beloved dog, Lukie.

Emma took great pride in her work as an administrator for the State of Ohio before retiring. Outside of her career, she was a talented and enthusiastic crafter—an activity she treasured sharing with her daughter. She loved to travel, especially to Florida, and found joy in attending church, listening to praise music, and spending time visiting with friends. Shopping trips, meals out, and sweet treats—especially cupcakes, fudge, and chocolate chip cookies—were among her favorite simple pleasures.

Her later years were enriched by the devoted care and companionship of the Allwine, Orta, and Woods families, who welcomed her warmly into their families and shared a special bond with her.

Emma will be remembered for her warmth, humor, spunky spirit, and her boundless capacity to care about others. She will forever be remembered as a sweet little ray of sunshine.

A visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel (3393 Broadway Grove City, OH 43123) on Monday, December 15th, 2025 from 9:30am to 10:30am, followed by the funeral service at 10:30am. Emma will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus, OH.
