Errol “Dink” Ray Parsons, age 86, of Columbus, Ohio ended his battle with congestive heart failure and pulmonary fibrosis on May 31, 2025. Dink was born to Woodrow “Pood” and Alberta “Bert” (Pearce) Parsons on November 15, 1938, in Wilkesville, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy “Dot” Parsons, parents, and many aunts and uncles. Dink is survived by his daughter Nita Payton, two grandsons, sister Anita Weaver, niece Lori Watkins, nephew Richard (wife - Kristi) Weaver and many wonderful friends and neighbors.
Dink served in the United States Army and worked at Federal Glass in Columbus, Ohio until their closure. He retired from Southwest City Schools in Grove City, Ohio.
For over twenty years, he made annual fishing trips to Michigan and/or Lake Erie with his friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends at his favorite bar, Bullshotz. At home he enjoyed spending time with his cats (Max and Mr. Gray), cooking his “hillbilly” breakfast, gardening, watching NASCAR, listening to country music and tinkering with/repairing anything mechanical. He cherished his picture-perfect, red pick up truck which he loved to show off. He was passionate about caring for the stray/homeless animals in his neighborhood.
Per Dink’s wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Veterinary Medicine Good Samaritan Care Fund (301355) at The Ohio State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. At Dink’s request, an estate gift will also be made to this fund which provides medical care for animals whose owners cannot afford the care they need.
His family and friends are grateful for the care he received from Mt. Carmel Hospice and Carolyn’s Cottage.
