Ellen Smith Anderson

Born April 5, 1942. Ellen passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Ellen was the matriarch of a family she cherished. She remembered every detail, no matter how small, and brought joy to all around her. Ellen was a loyal Christian who lived her life devoted to her faith. Her family takes comfort knowing she is now walking with Jesus and watching over them with continued pride and encouragement.

Ellen graduated from West High School in 1960, and from Muskingum University in 1964. She taught for several years for the South-Western City School System as a learning disability tutor.

Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mildred Smith; her husband, Robert R. Anderson; sister, Carolyn Taylor; sister-in-law, Janice Smith; and brother-in-law, Herb Taylor. She is survived by her three sons, Steven C. Rutledge (Nancy), Michael S. Rutledge (Christina), and Craig A. Rutledge (Michelle). Ellen leaves behind seven grandchildren she treasured, Cheryl Albrechta (Steven), Tom Rutledge, Benjamin Rutledge (Annabella), Morgan Rutledge, Brian Rutledge, Sarah Rutledge, and Carson Rutledge, and two great grandchildren, Brooklynn and Miles Albrechta. She also leaves behind one brother, John A. Smith, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Her memorial service will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio on Tuesday, June 17 at 2:00 P.M., with visiting hours prior to the service at 1:00 P.M.
