Evan Phillip Hannay, age 40, passed away unexpectedly on March 31, 2026.
Born on January 26, 1986, Evan grew up in Canfield, Ohio, where he first shared his infectious personality and radiant smile with those around him. He was a man of many talents and deep passions, finding joy in the strings of a guitar, the magic of theatre and film, and the quiet beauty of nature and animals.
Evan lived a life full of unique adventures. He was incredibly proud of his time spent as a stuntman at Old Tucson Studios, and he carried that same precision and skill into his work as a poker dealer, where he was known for his remarkably quick hands. A master of trivia and a lover of cinema, Evan had a movie quote for nearly every conversation, ensuring that humor and laughter followed him wherever he went.
He is survived by his parents, Rolland (Lorna) Hannay and Terrie (Jimmie Hilligas) Hannay; his sisters, Brynn (Jeff) Steckman and Erin (Nate) Hughes; and his beloved niece and nephews, whom he adored. He also leaves behind countless aunts, uncles, and cousins who meant a great deal to him. Evan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Raymond and Suzanna Phillips, and Rolland and Roseann Hannay.
In accordance with Evan’s wishes, his ashes will be spread in the ocean, returning him to the nature he so dearly loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Evan’s memory to Misfit Mountain, an animal sanctuary in North Carolina, to honor his lifelong love for animals. Donations can be made online at:
