Evans Roberts, Pastor Emeritus, founder and builder of St. James Biblical Christian Baptist Church, 89, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014 in Columbus, OH. Evans was born on August 12, 1925 in Morrilton, Arkansas to Major Roberts and Maggie (Arnold) Roberts.
Evans is preceded in death by his son, Emanual Roberts.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Laura Roberts; children, Maggie Hamilton, Laura Young, Ava (Mark) Nowling, Lynn (Stephen) Dillard, Lisa Smith, Mary Roberts, Blight (Randy) Hamilton, Zina Thomas, and Sidney Hamilton; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sister, Margaret (Pettis) McClain; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Family will receive friends on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. James Biblical Christian Baptist Church, 1311 E. Hudson St. Columbus, OH 43211 followed by funeral services at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest at Green Lawn Cemetery. Please leave a message of condolence for the family during this difficult time.
