Evelyn V. (Amos) Martin-Houdashelt, 96, Grove City, passed away Sunday, March 23rd. Evelyn was born June 24, 1917 in Dexter, Ohio to the late Sylvia and Ross Amos. She played basketball for and graduated from Rutland (Ohio) High School. She was a longtime cook at dear old Central High, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a pretty good bowler and received a Bachelor of Square Dancing. Preceded in death by husbands Lee Martin and Don Houdashelt, and daughter Kay Mauldin. She is survived by children Dick (Julie) Martin, Ned (Connie) Martin, Bonnie (Pat) Thompson, son-in-law John Mauldin, 10 grandkids, 12 great-grandkids and 3 great-great grandkids. Special thanks go to Carriage Court of Hilliard and VITAS Hospice Care, they were great. Even though she loved flowers and gardening, the family is requesting friends consider memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
Viewing will be held at 1-3 p.m., funeral at 3, Thursday, March 27th at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City.
Burial will be at Glen Rest Memorial Estate, Reynoldsburg, at a later date.
