Floyd William, 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 2, 2025. Born February 4, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio to John and Marjorie (Welbaum) Cochrun. Floyd spent most of his life in Galloway, Ohio. He graduated from Grove City High School with the Class of 1957. After graduation he was employed with the Franklin County Engineers Office where upon retirement he was the foreman of the Guardrail Crew. Once he retired he spent the rest of his life with his wife Bonita Hessler Cochrun. They were married for 45 years and rarely spent a moment apart.
He loved spending time with family, trains, tractors, gardening, collecting coins, antiques and learning about history, He was very wise and knowledgeable on numerous subjects. If you needed help fixing something chances are he knew how to fix it and would help you do it. He was also an amazing storyteller. Friends and family all loved hearing him tell stories about the past, his life, and tales about his days working for the county. Floyd never knew a stranger and he could have a conversation with anyone, be it an old friend, or someone he just met at the grocery store or the gas station. Often, when leaving somewhere he would say Bon, lets go, only to continue talking for at least another 20 minutes.
In 2012, Floyd was interviewed and photographed for a Columbus Dispatch newspaper article about the town of Galloway. He was thrilled to be asked to contribute. The link to the article is:
