Fred A. Lutz
Fred A. Lutz, 96, loving husband and father, passed away on April 25, 2025. Born on September 4, 1928, in Mt. Sterling, Ohio, he graduated from Miami University with a B.S. in Business Administration. After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, Fred had a successful career as a buyer and manager with F. & R. Lazarus & Co. Department store.
Fred was a longtime member of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church where he actively served as an usher. In later years, he worshipped at Worthington All Saints Lutheran Church, faithfully attending the weekly Pastor’s Bible Study.
Fred is survived by children Nancy Lutz of Washington, D.C. and Steve Lutz of Powell, Ohio; nephew William Lutz, niece Sarah Lutz, and several grand- and great-grand nephews and nieces. Fred was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 59 years, Marjorie Doering Lutz; parents Fred A. Lutz, M.D. and Helen Beale Lutz; brother W. Beale Lutz, M.D., his wife Joan Reid-Lutz, and their son, John Lutz; and niece Diana Doering.
Fred and Marjorie were fortunate to be surrounded over the years by cherished family, friends, and neighbors, for whom they were deeply grateful.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of StoryPoint North Powell and to Debbie and Diana of CorsoCare Hospice for their compassionate care of Fred during the past eight months.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Those wishing to honor Fred’s memory may make a memorial contribution to a charity of their choice.
