It is with much love and deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Frederick Milton Dean, age 83, of Columbus, Ohio on August 18, 2026 at The Landings of Westerville. He was born August 17, 1943 in Fairmont, West Virginia to the late Frederick C. and Catherine Dean.
After 30 years of service, Fred retired from the City of Columbus, Dept. of Development. Fred had many interests, an avid fisherman; he was always ready to go fishing. He also enjoyed hunting, bowling, and watching the Buckeyes. You could always find him tinkering with something, trying to fix it. He and his wife enjoyed going on cruises and traveling throughout the country.
Surviving him are his loving wife of 44 years, Barbara (nee Skeslock), daughter, Heather A (Raul Castro) Dean, son, Eric A. (Carrie) Dean, four grandchildren, Jonah M, Caroline P, Raul Castro-Dean, and Elliott Hyatt. He is survived by sisters, Winnifred (Phillip) Pertee and Catherine (Stephan) Henretta and brother, George (Mary Beth) Dean, and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is Carol Richardson, the mother of his children.
Fred is predeceased by sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Ann and Gill Kerwood.
Family will receive friends on August 26, 2026 from 5-8pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus, Ohio 4323. Funeral service to be held at Newcomer Funeral Home August 27, 2026 at 11:00am
He will be laid to rest at Northlawn Memory Gardens, 7060 SR 3, Westerville, Ohio 43082.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Stroke Association and Bella Care Hospice. 110 Polaris Pkwy, Ste 302 Westerville, Ohio 43082. The family would like to extended their gratitude to the staff of The Landings for the care, kindness, and compassion throughout his stay. Their support is deeply appreciated.
Rest in peace Freddie, your legacy lives on in the hearts of all those who knew you and loved you. When we lose someone we love, we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind.
