Frederick J. Francia, 61, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 in Columbus, OH. Fred was born on June 27, 1954 in Columbus to Stephen and Mary (Frazzini) Francia.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael Francia; and brother-in-law, Mark Abbott.
He is survived by wife of 38 years, Sandra Francia; children, Jennifer (Justin) Price and Phillip Francia; grandchildren, Brooklynn Price and Joseph Colbridge; siblings, Ed, Carol, Chris (Mary), Robert (Judy), and Sharon (David); sisters-in-law, Cathy Abbott and Norma Francia; and many other family members and friends.
Fred graduated from Northland High School in 1973 where he was awarded the Most Valuable Player of his baseball team. Fred had a passion for movies of all genres and cataloged his vast collection of epic proportion. He was a man of many hobbies including building model airplanes, and enjoyed playing horseshoes, pool and bowling. He had a great sense of humor and always kept his family laughing. Even during the last years of his life when he was in pain, Fred never let it get the best of him, and always kept a positive attitude. He was a loving husband and devoted father and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Family will receive friends on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH 43231 followed by funeral services at 12:00pm. He will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Messages of condolence may be left at www.NewcomerColumbus.com.
