Gail J. Wilcox, a cherished member of the Grove City community, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026, at The Ashford at Grove City. Born on July 31, 1936, in Grove City, Ohio, Gail’s life was marked by an adventurous spirit, boundless generosity, and a devoted commitment to her family and friends.
Gail’s professional career was distinguished by her role as an EEG Technician at Central Ohio Psychiatric Hospital, where she contributed her skills and care to the health and well-being of many patients. Beyond her professional achievements, she was an avid gardener who found joy in tending to her plants, an enthusiastic traveler who embraced the world with curiosity and zeal, and loved dancing with her husband.
Known for her warm heart and open nature, Gail never met a stranger she wasn’t friends with. Her kindness and willingness to help anyone in need were hallmarks of her character. Family meant everything to her, especially her nine grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, with whom she loved spending time and creating lasting memories.
Gail is survived by her children Michael (Sandy) Wilcox, Cheryl (Tim) Dempsey, and Carol Wilcox, all of whom carry forward her legacy of love and generosity. She also leaves behind her brother Dale (Marcy) Ranke, and sisters Nancy (Roger) Duty and Dawna Borden, who remember her as a treasured sibling.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 62 years, Charles Allen Wilcox; her parents, Walter and Opal Mae Ranke; and her siblings Walter “Butch” Ranke, Jeanie Craft, and James “Jimmy” Ranke.
A visitation to honor Gail’s life will be held on April 6, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Bethel Lutheran Church, located at 4501 Hoover Rd, Grove City, OH 43123. The funeral service will follow on April 7, 2026, starting at 11:00 AM at the church, with Pastor Peter Ray officiating. Burial will follow at Grove City Cemetery.
Gail J. Wilcox’s life was a testament to the power of generosity, love, and the joy found in discovery and family. Her memory will remain a treasured blessing to all who knew her. Her adventurous soul and kind spirit will forever inspire those fortunate enough to have shared in her journey.
