Gary Lee Ryan, 61, of Westerville, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2013 at his residence.
He was born December 15, 1951 in Mansfield, OH son of Lewis and Alice Lewis Ryan of Lexington, OH.
Gary graduated from Lexington High School in 1970. He served in the Air Force National Guard. He retired from AT&T with 28 years of service and was currently employed by PNC Bank. Gary was an avid plastic modeler and member of IPMS. He built vintage cars and armed forces airplanes. Gary took great pride in detailing his models to be as authentic as possible, and won many ribbons for his work. He spent time at many hobby shops with his friends Dave McKean and Rocci Primavera. Gary was a Master Mason in Bellville, OH for 10 years. He came to find the Lord and cherished his friendship with Pastor Rich Schorling and family.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Vicky Chaffin Ryan; daughter, Rebekah Ryan; sons, Patrick and Samuel Ryan; sister, Marcy (Bobby) Brown of Dallas, GA; brother, Kevin Ryan of Mansfield; nieces, Alana Waller and Carly Brown of GA; nephew, Matthew Ryan of Lexington, OH; cousin, Missy Soprano of Mansfield; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Chaffin and Melanie (Todd) Skiles.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 12, 2013 from 4:30-6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus, with the memorial service beginning at 6:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Westerville Special Olympics, P.O. Box 1151 Westerville, OH 43086.
