It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Edwin Waldron, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Gary peacefully left this world on December 31, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born on August 24, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio, to George Edwin Waldron and Charity Mae Waldron (Climber).
Gary’s life was one of dedication to his family, his country, and his community. In 1968, he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving with honor and distinction during a time of great national change. His service laid the foundation for the values of duty and integrity that he carried with him throughout his life.
On May 24, 1968, Gary married the love of his life, Penny June Waldron (Sowers). Together, they shared a strong and enduring bond that lasted for over 57 years, a relationship grounded in mutual respect, love, and partnership.
Gary was a lifelong learner, attending JC Sommers, Grove City High School, and later continuing his education at Ohio State University for two years before transferring to Franklin University, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration. His education led him to a successful career in business, beginning at Super Duper before transitioning to Motorists Insurance Group, where he spent many years making valuable contributions to the company and fostering strong professional relationships.
Above all, Gary was a family man. He took immense pride in being a loving father to his children, Bradley Edwin Waldron and his wife, Tracy Lynn Waldron, and Jennifer June Waldron (Florence) and her husband Daniel Adam Florence, who were blessed to have him as a father and role model. He later became a proud grandfather to Nattalie June Florence, Emily Rose Florence, Blake Wesley Reynolds, and Grant Edwin Waldron, who brought him endless joy and love. His wisdom, warmth, and presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Gary was predeceased by his parents, George and Charity, and is survived by his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and a wide circle of friends and family. His legacy of love, service, and dedication to his family and country will live on in all who knew him.
