George Irvin Riemenschneider, age 98, of Columbus, Ohio passed away Wednesday March 21, 2018 at Grant Medical Center.
Born in Washington County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Frederick and Mable (Robinson) Riemenschneider.
George was Baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in October 1935 and served Jehovah faithfully for the next 82 1/2 years. He was drafted during World War II and spent 2 1/2 years in prison because of his stand on Christian neutrality.
He retired as a short haul truck driver where he worked 60 hours a week in addition to his Christian duties. After his retirement, he continued to work as a brick laborer and renovated hotels. Some of George's favorite pastimes were fishing and camping.
He grew up on a farm and was an avid gardener. He supplied his entire family and many friends with fresh vegetables all summer. He also grew grapes which he used to make wine.
George is survived by three daughters, Ervena (Jim) McKinley, Ellise Lemon, Erin (Ben) Jacobson, and one son, Edward (Toni) Riemenschneider, 12 grandchildren, Damon, Devon, Sarah, Levi, Jordon, Derek, Sean, Iain, Eden, Laura, Jared and Joseph, and 12 great grandchildren, Kyle, Kelsey, Keegan, Mason, Cami, Jax, Finn, Clayton, Shelby, Georgia, Mason, and Logan, and 2 sisters, Gladys Hinton, Dorothy Held and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by two wives, Betty Marciniak and Frances Parker, one son Eric Riemenschneider, one grandson Dustin McKinley, two sisters Elva Hinton and Hazel Flesher, and two brothers, Carl and Floyd Riemenschneider.
Memorial Service Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Brown Road Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1401 Brown Rd., Columbus, OH 43223.
