George Lawrence "Larry" Wear, age 78 of Columbus, OH passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018. He was born on December 30, 1939 in Portsmouth, OH to George and Esther (Wendelken) Wear.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sarah Wear and brother-in-law, Dean Collingsworth. He is survived by his siblings, Scott Wear, Tom (Markie) Wear, Rachel Collingsworth, Rick ( Joannie Copeland) Wear; son, Brian Wear; step-daughter, Erin Mehlhop; granddaughter Alyssia Ayers; step-grandson Steven (Haylee) Ayers; great-grandchildren, Damien and Ronella Ayers; 11 nieces and nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews, ex-wives, Penny Few and Lynn Mehhlop and close friends, Jeff and Janet Kohn.
Larry was a 1957 graduate of Portsmouth H.S. and 1968 graduate of The Ohio State University. He remained an avid Buckeye fan. Larry proudly served his country in the Navy as a linguist. He was a member of the Aurora Masonic Lodge. He worked in the insurance industry with Motorist and Grange. Larry retired from Macy's as a salesman. Larry was a veracious reader, a gardening enthusiast, known as "Hasta Man" and a worldwide traveler.
Private services will be held later.
