Gerald (Jerry) Allen Kuhlman, age 86, of Westerville, OH, was called home by our Lord on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 4:14 am. Jerry was born on September 13, 1939, in Lima, OH to the late Harold and Helen (McCartney) Kuhlman. Jerry was also preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Kuhlman and sister-in-law, Ruth Kuhlman.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peggy (Merideth) Kuhlman; sons, Patrick Kuhlman (Amy P.) and Brian Kuhlman (Amy T.); grandchildren, Schuyler Coulter (Gordon), Shaye Kuhlman (fiancé Ross Jones), Beauregard Kuhlman (fiancé Reannah McGinnis), Mason Kuhlman, Rhiannon Kuhlman, Zachary Kuhlman, Gage Kuhlman and Joshua Kuhlman; great- grandchildren, Jude and Maya Kuhlman; brother, Larry Kuhlman; nephews, Scott and Steve Kuhlman
He was a proud graduate of Miller City High School, class of 1957. Jerry joined the Navy Reserves while still in high school but decided he preferred the Air Force and completed his military career in North Dakota. He was very proud to serve his country. After his military service he worked for City Loan and Savings in Defiance. He then finished his career with GMAC in Lima and finally Columbus. Jerry was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Westerville and the Knights of Columbus. .
Jerry was a lifelong sports fan. In high school he played basketball and baseball. As a young adult he continued to enjoy playing sports and also racing his sports cars. His love of sports continued when watching his children, grandchildren and the OSU Buckeyes play.
However, Jerry was always happiest on the water and his true love was fishing on Lake Erie. He loved taking family and friends out on his boat to catch walleye or perch. He always seemed to find where they were hiding! There were short trips to Leamington, Canada, or long trips up the east coast of Michigan and over to Bayfield, Canada.
A Celebration of Life with be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, Newcomer Northeast Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd., Columbus, OH 43231. Visitation will be at 10 am with a service following at 11 am.
