Glen Raymond Johnson, 62, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016 in Columbus, Ohio. Glen was born in Kankakee, Illinois on September 28, 1954 to Robert K. and Marguerite Johnson.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Glen is survived by his wife of 36 years, Christine Johnson; son, Nick (Avril) Johnson; son, Nathan Johnson; 2 grandchildren, Caleb and Zachary Johnson; sister, Judy (Larry) Gierke of Kankakee, Illinois; sister, Jane Wilcox of Westerville, Ohio; brother, Bob (Pam) Johnson of Mission Viejo, California; sister, Myra (Tim) Paul of Apache Junction, Arizona; brother, David (Ann) Johnson of Alexandria, Ohio; and many much-loved nieces, nephews, and other family members.
At the age of 17, Glen enlisted in the US Navy and served on the aircraft carriers, "America" and the "USS Forrestal". He was a graduate of Rhema Bible College in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Glen worked for Big Bear Bakery in Columbus for 11 years. He was pastor of Valour Christian Fellowship for 10 years and director of Valour House, Inc. for many years. He was currently employed by NetJets, Inc. for the last 13 years. Glen enjoyed playing guitar, fishing, and spending time with his dogs and family. He loved his family most of all. The family wishes to thank all of their friends and family members for their support, love, and prayers.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, NE Chapel, 3047 East Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, Ohio followed by a Memorial Service from 4:00 pm-5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross in Glen's honor.
