Listen to Obituary

Glen Strong, 64, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 17th, 2026, in Westerville, Ohio.

Glen was born on December 30, 1961, in Canton, Ohio, son of the late Robert and Ethel (Fuchs) Strong.

In 1980, Glen moved from his family home in Paris, Ohio, to Columbus. Columbus would become his home as he began to build his life, family, and career.

Glen and Cheryl were married on March 12, 1988, beginning a marriage that would span more than 38 years.

Glen built a 40-year career at Porter Wright, where his work ethic, patience, and steady presence earned the respect of his colleagues. He approached his work with the same reliability and dedication that defined so much of his life.

He was a gentle and hardworking man who found satisfaction in caring for people, animals, and things around him. He was a skilled gardener, craftsman, and coach. He also loved dogs and the simple companionship they brought to everyday life. He had an appreciation for the value and beauty in the things around him, often finding meaning in life’s simple pleasures.

Glen’s greatest gift was his reliability. When someone needed him, he showed up without hesitation, without expectation, and ready to help in whatever way was needed.

He had a true passion for the game of baseball. He dedicated countless hours to the sport, sharing it with his children and grandchildren. He coached in Big Walnut Little League, Columbus Ohio Youth Baseball League, and Forest Park. He also served as a board member and league president for several years at Forest Park.

A devoted Cincinnati Reds fan, he spent countless evenings cheering on his team, celebrating the wins, and staying loyal through the tough seasons. He also was a fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes football.

A great escape for Glen was Naples, Florida, where he enjoyed soaking in the sunshine, the waves, and quality time with his beloved Cheryl on Vanderbilt Beach.

His unique giggle was one of the many things that made him who he was. Though that laugh will be deeply missed, it lives on in his children, a lasting reminder of their father.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ethel, and his brothers Robert, Herbert “Herbie,” and Duane.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Strong, and their three children, Ryan (Grace) Strong, Trent (Mikayla) Strong, and Chase “Haze” Strong (Mariah “Iren” White), as well as his older children, Cara (Adam) Kipp and Nicholas “Nick” (Kara) Strong, from his previous relationship with Anita Fox.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Amelia, Braxton, Cade, Colton, Emilee, Felix, Jaxson, Landon, Max, Olivia, Penny, and Theo.

He is also survived by his sisters Diana “DeeDee,” Josephine “Josie,” and Melinda, along with several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of life will be held at the Westerville Community Center from 4:30-8:30 p.m., open-house style on October 10th.

Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the life and legacy of a man who gave so much of himself to others.
