Glenna G. Toy

January 26, 1944 — September 6, 2025

Pickerington

Listen to Obituary

On September 6, 2025, at the age of 81, Glenna G. Toy of Pickerington, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord. Only weeks after saying goodbye to her beloved husband Bob, Glenna showed the same quiet courage in her final days that she had carried all her life.

Born January 26, 1944, in Williamson, West Virginia, to Sterling Paul and Lena Ruth (Doan) Scott, Glenna grew up with resilience shaped by her family’s journey through military service, the Korean War, and the coal mines of Kentucky before settling in Columbus, Ohio for a better life.

Glenna lived her faith not through loud declarations, but through steady grace, unwavering strength, and limitless compassion. She raised her children to be strong, thoughtful, and brave, weaving her love and wisdom into the fabric of their lives. After a long and successful career with Kroger, where she retired as Advertising Manager, Glenna found her greatest joy in her family. Whether it was sharing a meal, cheering at a ballgame, or taking her grandchildren to Zoombezi Bay, COSI, or Chuck E. Cheese, every moment spent with them was a treasure to her. Glenna was a member of the Alkire Road Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Terry L. Rector Sr.; her second husband, Charles M. Hiser; and her last husband, Robert W. Toy. She was also preceded by her parents, Sterl and Ruth Scott; her sister, Paula Kolessor; and her eldest son, Terry L. Rector Jr. Through every season of her life, Glenna gave herself fully as a wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted caretaker—loving deeply, selflessly, and without hesitation.

She leaves behind her sons Paul (Theresa) Rector and Gary (Staci) Rector; step-sons Steve (Denice) Hiser, Michael Hiser, David (Theresa) Hiser, and Robert (Mikki) Toy Jr.; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces. Her legacy will live on in their lives, in the strength she taught, and in the love she so generously gave.

Glenna will be remembered not only for her intelligence, humor, and quiet faith, but for the way she made each person feel seen, cherished, and loved. She leaves this world having given more than she received, and her light will continue to shine in all who were blessed to know her.
