Glennis W. Nickell, 89, of Grove City and Chillicothe, Ohio and Lady Lake, Florida passed away Saturday, January 25, 2014. Mr. Nickell was born February 28, 1924 in Morehead, Kentucky.
He is a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII where he was in the artillery division and was awarded as a sharpshooter. He retired from Borden Chemical Company and has been wintering in Lady Lake for over 20 years. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Fruitland Park and enjoyed woodworking.
Preceded in death by parents, Norman and Ara Nickell; mother of his three daughters, whom he was married to for 57 years, Hazel Nickell; three brothers, Hildrus, Woodney and Norman Jr.; sister, Josephine "Tiny" Howard; half-sister, Norma Kaye Worley.
Survivors include his loving wife, Dorothy; 3 daughters, Diana Cameron of Lady Lake, Vickie Palmer (Paul) and Carol Green (Ric); brother, Jesse; half brother, Bill; sister, Emogene Shroyer; 2 half sisters, Marlene Mollette and Sherry Watson; 3 stepsons, Danny, Bruce and Rick Weese; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation Friday, January 31, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Funeral Service Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 10 am at the Funeral Home with Pastors Michael Meadows and Kevin Brown to officiate. Interment to follow at Concord Cemetery (Old), Grove City, Ohio.
