Grace E Seymour

Grace E. Seymour, 94, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on April 29, 2026. While our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing she was ready to receive the wonderful love her Savior promised. She often spoke with gentle certainty, saying she hoped there would be a rocking chair waiting for her in Heaven-and many babies there who would need her love. Grace was born on February 20, 1932, in Ross County, Ohio, to the late James and Ida Peters. In 1953, she married Herbert Seymour, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a life in Columbus, Ohio, in the Westgate area, where they made their home for sixty years. Their home welcomed all, many came and stayed, the coffee was always hot, love was abundant, and there was always honest work to be done.

Grace was preceded in death by son Michael Kight, daughter-in-law Jean Kight, first husband Ernest Kight, second husband Herbert R. Seymour, step-daughter Emma Casto, siblings Annabelle Moats, Herman Peters, Melvin Peters and Mary Jane Peters.   

Together they raised a large and loving family: Charles Seymour, John (Mary) Kight, Carolyn Hunter, Sharmin (Dan) Pendell, Ronald (Kim) Seymour, Lisa (Jeff) Seymour, and Gary (Nicole) Seymour. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, including her grandson Joshua Bruce who has been by her side for 20 years. 

Her legacy lives on in the faith she instilled, the lives she touched, and in her cherished recipe for apple dumplings. 

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Maria and Stacey for their compassionate care of Grace these last few months, and to Hospice 360 for their dedicated service, which the family found invaluable. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating her life on Sunday, May 3, 2026 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. Funeral service on Monday at the funeral home at 1:00pm with Sherri Hill officiating. Burial to follow at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, OH. Grace loved flowers, but if you wish to make a donation in her memory, to the American Heart Association.
