Harold D. Cook

The Rev. Harold D. Cook, age 79 of Pomeroy, OH was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday Dec 13, 2014. He was born on December 7, 1935 in Salyersville, KY. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, and mother of his children, Geraldine (Estep) Cook in 1994, as well as his brother Roger Cook, sisters Ima Gene Boggs, Debbie Wiseman, and Ema Joyce Durbin, children Verna, Phyllis, and baby boy Cook. He is survived by brothers Kelly & Ray Cook, sister Ruth (Cook) Rowe, and his children - Judy & Terry Cottrell, Rita & Larry Patterson, Eddie & Terri Cook, Paul Cook, Philip & Ann Cook, LaWanna & Curt Swisher, and Lucy & Hansel Stapleton. In 1997 he was made whole again by becoming one with Mary Etta (Hughes) Cook and bringing her children into our family. They are Ray & Sheila Jacobs, Steve & Carla Jacobs, Elizabeth & Donald Nickels, and Donna & Gary Northup. Harold is also survived by 27 grand children, and countless great grandkids, nieces & nephews.
He has been a very devoted child of God since the age of 19, having never wavered in his faith and love for Jesus or his dedication to spreading God's word and love. For 60 years his mission in life has been doing Evangelistic work, various outreach ministries including to feed & clothe the homeless and needy, and holding countless street revivals. For many years he was the Pastor at The Lighthouse Tabernacle in Columbus as well as The Shepherd of the Flock at the New Hope Revival Center in Columbus and Circleville.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday December 16 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at Newcomer Funeral Home SW, 3393 Broadway Grove City, OH 43123, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday December 17 at 11:00AM with Pastor Steve Hicks Officiating.
