Harry G. Kehagias, 77, of Columbus, OH, passed away on September 22, 2016. He was born on June 17, 1939 in Vamvakou, Laconia, Greece and immigrated to the United States in 1947.
Harry subsequently earned his U.S. citizenship May 12, 1976. Harry retired from the U.S. Army 101st Airborne Division with 22 years of service from August 19, 1956 to March 1978. He served three tours during Vietnam between 1966-71 and two tours in Korea. He was the recipient of multiple awards and honors including the Bronze Star. Harry was a loving family man with a great sense of humor and love of life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Demitra (Veldekis) Kehagias, brothers, John (Karen) Kehayias, Pete Kehagias, Arthur Kehagias, brother-in-law, George Sauter and nephews, Nick Kehagias, Demetri and Andrew Kehayias.
Surviving family includes daughters, Kim (Ronnie Williams) Kehagias, Kathleen (Pat Evans) Kehagias, sister, Anastasia Sauter, granddaughters, Ashley Hicks, Whitney (Josh) Hicks, great-grandchildren, Christian, Roman, Gracelynn, sisters-in-law, Linda and Norma Kehagias and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5-8pm, Thursday, September 29, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH. A funeral service will be held at 10am, Friday, September 30, 2016 at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 555 North High Street, Columbus, OH 43215.
Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, OH. A luncheon will follow the burial at the American Legion Post #532, 1571 Demorest Road, Columbus, OH 43228.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations in memory of Harry to the Desert Island Club, 501 Josephine Ave., Columbus, OH 43204 c/o Dan. The Club is an institution that is vital to the Recovery community and was Harry's passion.
