Helen Josephine Hatfield, age 82, of Columbus exchanged the bonds of earth for her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 24, 2019. She was born on September 5, 1937 to the late Ezra J. and Mary E. Baldwin of Sedalia, MO.
After graduation from Striped College School, she worked at Puckets Diner where she met her future husband Lewis N. Hatfield. After the couple married, they relocated to Fostoria, OH where Lewis re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. As a young mother and supportive homemaker, she remained stateside during Lewis' many international tours of duty. Upon Lewis' retirement from the U.S. Air Force in 1972, the family moved to Columbus, Ohio.
Helen enjoyed gardening, canning, embroidery, and reading. She retired from Hamilton Local Schools and was a regular attendee of Trinity Assembly of God.
Preceded in death by her husband, Lewis N. Hatfield; sisters, Mary, Geraldine, Laura, Christine, Catherine, Beverly; brothers, James, Harry, John; brother-in-laws, Charles, Harold, Raymond JR and sister-in-laws, Patti Hatfield, Betty Hawk, Dorothy Armstrong.
Survived by sisters, Dorothy Petty, Ruth Baldwin, LaVerna (Rudy) Riggin; brother-in-laws, Leonard (Erma), Larry (Susie), and sister-in-law, Linda (Doug) Purkey. Survived by children, Neil (Dee) Hatfield, Gary (Jan) Hatfield, Vickie (Mark) Kaho, Terry (Kathie) Hatfield, and Keith Hatfield; six grandchildren she adored, Andrew Hatfield, Jelena Hatfield, Halley Kaho, Torrie Kaho, David Hatfield, and Nathan Hatfield.
Family will receive friends at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway Grove City, OH Monday, December 30, 2019 5-8 pm with the funeral service being held at TRINITY ASSEMBLY OF GOD, 1112 Demorest Road, Columbus, OH on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 10 am with Pastor Dr. Kenneth Keene officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery.
