Helynn "Lynn" Rivoire Smith Bill passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, surrounded by her books and artwork and the love of her family. Born on June 29, 1942, in Hartford, Connecticut, to Helen and Henry Smith. Lynn was raised in Alexandria, Virginia. She graduated from George Washington High School, where she excelled academically and participated in the debate team.
Lynn pursued higher education at Texas Christian University, balancing her studies with a role at the Texas House of Representatives. She graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in art history. Then, her adventurous spirit led her to a career as a flight attendant with Continental Airlines, operating out of O’Hare Airport. Among her many flights, she often reflected on the poignant journeys transporting soldiers to Vietnam, describing them as some of the most challenging yet meaningful experiences of her career. In Laguna Beach, Lynn met the love of her life, Dick Bill on one of her flights. The couple married on April 29 in Chicago and began their life together in Atlanta, Georgia, where they welcomed their first two daughters, Kristi and Laurie. The family later settled in Worthington Hills in Columbus, Ohio, where they raised their three daughters, including their youngest, Andi.
Lynn was known for her warmth, intelligence, and unwavering dedication to her family. She cherished her role as a mother and grandmother, always placing her loved ones at the center of her world. Her legacy is carried on by her daughters: Kristi (Brian) Cooper, Laurie (Brock) Marbaugh, and Andrea (Andi) Bill (Vince Davis). She was a proud Nana Lynn to four grandchildren: Cort Marbaugh, Bam Marbaugh, Franki Cooper, and Lexi Cooper.
She was greeted in Heaven by her husband Dick Bill, her parents and her beloved pets Rocky and Loquacious and so many friends and family.
