Listen to Obituary

Giddy-up partner, to keep up with Dayle! Dayle's energy was hard to match by most people's standards. He would work a sixteen-hour stretch to fix a client's computer issues, and it didn't phase him. He could rub his tired wife's shoulders for hours and not flinch.

His very active life was full until a debilitating confrontation with skin cancer slowed Dayle down. The last years of his life were not customary but he dealt with his health with determination and strength that amazed his caregivers and family.

At the age of seventeen, Dayle was determined to leave the tumbleweeds of Texas behind, and he joined the Navy, proudly serving for four years. He followed his career path by studying chemistry at the University of Washington. For a short while, he worked as a toxicologist and in several business fields before teaching himself computer and becoming an IT consultant.

Dayle met his beloved wife of forty-three years when she said yes to a mutual friend and played mixed doubles as his partner. The tennis skills did not impress, but the tennis outfit sure did. The West Texas-born cowboy turned into a Buckeye when he moved to Columbus, OH, in 1984. The day he became a father, the daughter he absolutely loved and adored, was the moment he started making every moment of her life a teachable moment. He would take her on nighttime frog hunts at the pond. There were one-on-one trips to the horse stables for riding together and to the State Fairs. The amount of loving quality time spent with her was one of his biggest joys in life. How many fathers in the dregs of the newborn stage have said, "Would you pump so I can feed her tonight?"

Golf, tennis, and fine dining with friends filled Dayle's leisure time. The affable Dayle made friends galore on the golf course, and for years, he believed that only playing nine holes, in his words, was like "kissing your sister". He much preferred as many as thirty-six holes of golf, especially if you were betting on yourself. If you were in his presence and walking, he was likely to disconnect your golf bag strap to watch your reaction when your clubs fell to the ground HAHA.

His faith walk with Christ was bolstered by his great friend Kevin, as well as the Christian fellowship at Heritage Church.

You are loved and missed by your wife, Kathy, daughter Darci Hickman (Joe), and grandchildren Ryder and Eliza.

Predeceased in death by mother, Vera Mae, father Herman Madison Boyt, and sister Babetta.
