Hersey Jerry Robertson was born in Charlotte, Tennessee and grew up in the Promise Land Community. Thus, always joking that he had been to the Promised Land. Anytime he was able to return home you better believe he was headed to Promise Land and you had better not get in his way. The love of seeing family and former classmates made the trip extra special.
Growing up Hersey was affectionately called “June” by family and ”Hawk” by close friends. He attended and graduated from Hampton High School in Dickson, Tennessee where he excelled as a triple threat sportsmen in football, basketball, and baseball. And as a result, loved sports his adult life being an avid Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeye fan. Hersey also enjoyed good food and fishing.
Hersey served in the army and after returning worked at Lennox Industries for 27 years until the company transferred operations out of state.
Hersey dedicated his life to Jehovah and was Baptized as one of Jehovah's witnesses in 1987. He was a member of the Worthington Congregation for the last five years. Hersey loved being out in the ministry teaching God’s word. His warm smile and personality made conversations effortless.
His favorite saying was “All you have is your word, you live by your word”
Hersey is preceded in death by his parents Hersey and Hattie Robertson; brothers, Calvin, Abraham, John, and Lorenzy Robertson, sisters: Willean Robertson, Lucy Thompson, Mary McLemore, Birdie Cole and son Danny Weaver.
Hersey leaves to cherish his memory; Devoted and loving wife Starlet Robertson, sons Dwayne (Elaine) Hylick, Hersey (Carmen Smith) Robertson, Michael (Nicole) DeClouet, daughter Kezia Robertson. Brother Hubert (Eleanor) Robertson, sisters-in-law; Bettie and Francine Robertson, Debra Richardson, Terry Weaver; brother-in-law, Darryl Weaver. 21 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
