Homan Skaggs, 82, previously from Grove City, OH, died on October 19, 2017, in West Jefferson, OH.
Homan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wanda nee Childress; children, Barry Skaggs (Nancy) and Sandra Snyder (Greg); grandsons, Jonathan Skaggs (Allison), Alex Snyder (Ashlinn), and Adam Snyder; great-granddaughters, Eliora and Toviah Skaggs; nephews, Garold Skaggs (Janie), Ricky Skaggs (Sharon), and Gary Skaggs (Regina).
He is preceded in death by parents, John M and Pearlie Skaggs nee Ferguson; brothers, Hobert (Dorothy) and Okel Skaggs, and niece Linda Skaggs.
Homan was born in Redbush, KY, in 1935; he gave his life to Jesus Christ in Dec. 2000. Homan was a longtime employee of TOSOH America and previously with White Castle Porcelain Steel Building Company. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, machinist, wood craftsman, and die hard OSU fan; he was also well known for his Christmas fudge. Homan was active at Highland Baptist Church of Grove City and West Jefferson First Baptist Church.
He was affectionately known as "Hodey" by his beloved wife Wanda and "Boo" by his three grandsons, following an epic game of peek-a-boo in 1987. A great family man, Homan was a devoted husband and loving father. His family and friends will always remember him as a good-natured soul who didn't know a stranger.
Visitation is Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017, at Newcomer Funeral Home, Grove City, OH, from 5-7pm and Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, at the funeral home starting at 10am until service time at 11am. Burial to follow at Alton Cemetery, Galloway, OH. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Homan's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to The American Heart Association.
