Howard "Skip" E. Lewis Jr.

Howard Edward Lewis, Jr., 71, of Galloway,Ohio passed away surrounded by family on June 15, 2025 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He was born on May 24, 1954, in Columbus, Ohio at White Cross Hospital, to the late Howard, Sr. and Vivian (Ellison) Lewis. Skip graduated from West High School in 1972 and from The Ohio State University in 1976, with a degree in Art Education. Skip married Melonlee Minney on August 9, 1975. He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Skip was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Sr. and Vivian (Ellison) Lewis and older sister, Baby Girl Lewis. He is survived by his loving wife, Melonlee, children Christopher Lewis, Christy Lewis (Jaime Brewer), grandchildren, Audrey Lewis (Nate Buck), Ashlyn Lewis, Brylee and Braylynn Brewer; great-granddaughter Celeste Buck. In-Laws Dan and Melinda Stickler, Michael and Marla Betz, Daryl and Melissa Minney and many nieces and nephews.

Skip was a prepress specialist working for Home Bindery, Odyssey Press, Byrum Lithographing, and Hopkins Printing. He retired from Hopkins Printing in 2021 but continued to help out part-time as a plate maker. He was a lifetime member of The Ohio State University Alumni association and NRA. His hobbies during the last 50 years of life included sailing and racing Hobie catamarans, recumbent bicycling, target shooting and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was also an avid Buckeye’s football fan.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Newcomer SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123 during the hours of 5pm and 8pm. The funeral service will follow on July 2, 2025, at the same location at 1pm, with visitation starting at 12pm.
