Ida Beachy, 87, of Plain City, passed away on August 15, 2016 at St. Ann's Hospital in
Westerville. Ida spent many years serving as the head cook at Rosedale Bible Institute,
where her affection for the students was well known.
In her younger days, she loved to
quilt, knit, and crochet. She was excellent at crossword puzzles, cryptoquotes, jigsaw
puzzles and word games. Ida was a long-time member of Shiloh Mennonite Church.
Ida was born to the late Sam C. and Lizzie (Raber) Beachy on June 14, 1929, in Plain
City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe J. Beachy, whom she married in
1949, her parents, her brother Daniel Beachy, sister Lizzie Raber, daughter-in-law
Rachel Beachy, daughter-in-law Beth Beachy, granddaughter Amy Beachy, and greatgrandson
Austin Beachy. Ida is survived by her eight children: Esther (Kim) Laurell of Westerville OH, Frances
(Tim) Haubold of South Bend IN, Freeman (Erma) Beachy of Plain City, Milton (Dorcas)
Beachy of Blountstown FL, Marilyn (Cliff) Troyer of Plain City, Kathryn Ryan of Plain
City, Myron Beachy of Marysville OH, and Larry (Nancy Irizzary) Beachy of Fond du Lac
WI. Ida is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, sisters Lena
(Raymond) Yutzy of Bloomfield IA, and Louella (Simon) Beachy of Plain City.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2016 at 4:00 p.m., with visitation
on the same date at 3:00 p.m. at Shiloh Mennonite Church. The family wishes to thank
the staff of St. Ann's Hospital and the Laurels of Worthington for their kindness and
assistance during this time.
