Iris Jean (Smith) (Lambert) Grodhaus, 94, of Westerville, passed away January 24, 2019.
Iris was born August, 7, 1924 to the late Ralph and Velma Del (George) Smith.
Iris was the first person in her family to graduate from college. She was a "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII, building Hell Divers at Curtis Wright. She was the former state commander for the Ladies Auxiliary VFW DAVA and volunteered helping disabled veterans for decades. She retired as a supervisor from the Department of Defense. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, her greatest joy was time spent with her family.
She was married to Fredrick Glen Grodhaus for 40 years.
Iris will be deeply missed by her; children Jessie Karmadel (Glenn) (Grodhaus) Thompson, Carl Kenneth (Nancee) Lambert; grandchildren Wesley Arden Thompson, Ashley Colleen (J.C.) (Lambert) de la Garza, Shawn Kenneth Lambert; great-grandchildren Sage, Kalen, Jordan de la Garza, Carlin Kenneth, Casey Lambert; sister Betty Lou "Bea" (Smith) Hatfield along with many other family and friends.
Iris was preceded in death by her devoted husband Fredrick and her beloved granddaughter Kelsey Karmadel Thompson.
Visitation for family and close friends will be Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 1pm to 4pm at Newcomer NE Chapel 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd., Columbus.
