Jack C. Briggs, age 80, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Jack was born on April 11, 1945 in Columbus, Ohio, to Jack and Betty Curtiss Briggs. He graduated in 1963 from Linden-McKinley High School in Columbus, called on his natural talent for sales and began his career at the W.T Grant store, joining their management training program. He was recruited in 1976 by the Hartz Mountain Corporation, a leading supplier of pet supplies, rose to the position of Regional Manager and was highly respected in the industry. In 1997 he left Hartz and began selling home security systems, treating his customers as though he was protecting his own family. He served his country, joining the army reserve and training as a medic. To serve his community, Jack volunteered his time to take police training and proudly joined the Columbus Police Auxiliary, riding with regular officers, having the same authority and accepting the same risks.
Jack’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband and father, fiercely protective and supportive and did his best to attend every game, performance, or tournament, often rushing home from out of town. He was overjoyed to become a grandfather and was a more than willing babysitter. Family gatherings and holidays were the highlights in his days. A man of faith, Jack was a member of Jerome United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his cousin Steve Lloyd, and his sister-in-law Joyce Springer. Jack will be deeply missed by his wife of 56 years, Lynne, his daughter Heidi (Justin) Bates, son Scott (Katey) Briggs, grandchildren Jacob Briggs, Jackson and Layla Bates, and Malia and Donovan Schneck, sister Sandra (Jerry) Creamer, nieces Amy (Eric)) Butzier and Christina (John) Tibbals, and cousin Susan (Gary) Andrews.
Visitation will be Monday, September 29 from 6-8pm and Tuesday, September 30 from 3-4pm, with a service at 4pm at Newcomer NW Chapel, 10051 Brewster Ln. Powell, OH, Pastor Bruce Dickerson officiating. To share a condolence with the family, please visit www.NewcomerColumbus.com.
