Jack W Mangus Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jack William Mangus Jr. of Johnstown, Ohio, who peacefully departed this life on June 23, 2025, at the age of 67, after a long and courageous battle with illness.

He was born on June 21, 1958, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Jack William Sr. and JoAnn Mangus

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Billie Mangus; his first wife, Pamela Hoehner; his father, Jack William Mangus Sr.; his mother, JoAnn Mangus; and his brother, Ronald (Pete) Mangus.

Jack dedicated his life to the craft of masonry. He began his career at the young age of sixteen, quickly developing a passion for the trade. His dedication and skill led him to establish his own company, Jack Mangus Masonry, where he poured his heart and soul into every project. His commitment to his community was evident in his generous contributions, including the donation of his services to construct the concession stand at Belt Field in Johnstown, Ohio, and the Veterans Memorial Wall in Johnstown, Ohio. These acts of service stand as a testament to his character and his desire to give back to the town he loved.

Jack's passion for masonry was matched only by his love for life's simple pleasures. He was an avid football fan, and his devotion to The Ohio State Buckeyes was unwavering. He would often rearrange his schedule to ensure he never missed a game. He cherished the time spent hunting and fishing with his best friend from kindergarten, Bob Myers, and eagerly anticipated their annual hunting trips to the cabin. His love extended to his faithful Bluetick Coonhound dogs, who held a special place in his heart.

Jack was a man of many passions, but perhaps none shone brighter than his love for family and the thrill of the race track. In his younger years, Saturday mornings were sacred, spent alongside his brother, Ronnie, at the Columbus Motor Speedway. Together, they shared a bond forged in the camaraderie of the pit crew and the roar of the engines. Jack found immense joy in working on the race car with Ronnie, meticulously preparing it for each race. He was Ronnie's biggest fan, cheering him on with unwavering enthusiasm at every event. This shared passion created a lasting connection between the brothers, filled with excitement and shared triumphs.

Jack had a remarkable sense of humor, often catching those around him off guard with his quick-witted remarks and unexpected punchlines. You never knew what he was going to say, and that was part of his undeniable appeal. He had a knack for lightening the mood and bringing smiles to faces. It was often said that Jack was a chip off the old block, as he was often described as being just like his father, Jack Mangus Sr. One of the most striking things about Jack was his uncanny resemblance to his father, Jack Mangus Sr. Not only did they share a similar physical appearance, but they also shared a similar zest for life. He not only looked exactly like his father, he acted like him too, carrying on the family legacy of the Mangus attitude. This shared resemblance extended beyond physical features, encompassing a similar wit, warmth, and zest for life.

Jack’s love for his children and siblings was evident in all that he did. He was lovingly cared for by his son, Jack, who resided with him and provided unwavering support and companionship. His sister, Teresa, played a crucial role in his care, tirelessly attending to his medical needs with compassion and dedication. His daughter, Angie, selflessly assisted with various tasks, ensuring his comfort and well-being. He is also survived by his daughters, Christina and Amy, and his siblings, Lisa, Kenny, and Ronnie, all of whom remained close and offered their love and support throughout his life.

Jack has left behind a legacy of family whom love him deeply and will miss him dearly, daughter, Angela (Joseph) Climer, daughter, Christina Blanton, Son, Jack William Mangus III, Daughter Amy Mangus; Ten grandchildren, Jack William Mangus IV, Thomas Cain Caudil, Kaylee Blanton, Christopher Blanton, Kaycee Blanton, Angel Blanton, Jacob Climer, Caleb Climer, Ava Mangus, Charlie Mangus and Seven Great-great grandchildren, Jordan Crumbie, Jasmine Crumbie, Tra’Shawn Draughon, Tae’Tum Draughon, Adalynn Ropp, Paityn Ropp and Luca Blanton; two sisters, Teresa Cady of Westerville and Lisa Kovach of Westerville; two brothers, Kenneth Mangus of Alexandria and Ronald Mangus of Westerville and many nieces and nephews.

Jack William Mangus Jr. will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of hard work, generosity, and love for his community will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.

A celebration of life will be held on July 2, 2025, from 3:00 pm-6:00 pm at Newcomer Northeast Chapel - 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, OH 43231. The family asks and encourages you to share your thoughts and memories of Jack during this time.
