Jack A. "Mohawk" Watson of Columbus, OH, age 82, passed away on April 16, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 16, 1933 to the late Lawrence A. Watson of Columbus, OH and Virginia E. Frew of Caldwell, OH, and further preceded in death by his grandson Samuel "Sammy" Hunter Gibbins.
Jack attended Ohio Avenue Elementary School, Eastgate Elementary School, Franklin Junior High School, and East High School, and he graduated from Dexter City High School. He served honorably as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps from July 1952 to July 1957 and was deployed to Korea from January 1954 through March 1955.
Jack had a strong work-ethic - retiring from Columbia Gas of Ohio after 36 years of service and working part-time at Capital Fire Protection for 13 years thereafter. He was an avid bowler, softball player, deer-hunter, and fisherman, The #1 Buckeye Fan, and a faithful patron of Blueberry Hill.
Jack is survived by his faithful wife of 44 years, Ruth A. Watson (Langley); children, Toni Miller, Thomas Watson, Julie (Greg) Gibbins, Jack Watson II, Judy (Adam) Crowell, Annette (Jeff) Bell, Paul Brian (Tara) Miller; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Charles & Amy Bell and Amy's daughter Ava, Max, Makayla, and George Gibbins, Alex Grove, Anderson, Sullivan, Tennyson, Oliver, and Evangeline Crowell, Renee & Philip Miller, Niko Miller and his daughter Hayden Miller, and Emily & Sara Watson; mother-in-law Virginia M. Langley of Columbus, OH; brothers-in-law, Mike Langley (Janice), David Langley (Debbie); sisters-in-law, Judy Langley, Lillian McKeever (Charles), and Goldie Langley; and many nieces and nephews. Jack was an amazing and loving husband, father, and grandfather and he will be greatly missed by so many.
Family will receive friends Friday, April 22, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, OH 43123, where a funeral service will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, 6959 W Broad St, Galloway, OH 43119, where Jack will rest close to Sammy.
