James William Balough Jr., 71, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2014 at his residence.
He was born September 20, 1943 in Chillicothe.
James was preceded in death by his father, James W. Balough Sr.; grandparents, Joseph and Mary Balough and Donald A. and Clara E. Bristow; brothers, Mathew Alan, Michael Joe and Joseph William Balough II; uncle, John B. Balough.
In his youth he was an accomplished High School Football player, musician, professional dancer and also performed with the Tecumseh group in Chillicothe.
James received a Masters Degree from St. Leo's University in St. Leo's, Florida.
He served in the Army during Vietnam Era with security forces at Inchon, South Korea and there he received his 3rd degree black belt in Karate.
James is survived by his mother, Dolores Jean Balough; sons, Joseph Michael and Joseph Brent Balough; daughter, Toni Michelle Crawford; grandchildren, Brent Balough and April Skye Balough; sister, Cheryl Lynn Evans; uncles, Charles Bristow and Orris Gilmore; previous spouses, Cheryl Dawn Crawford and Marickie Linley; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnephews and grandnieces.
Visitation will be Friday, November 14, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home NE Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Columbus.
Funeral service will be Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Chillicothe. Contributions may be made to the VA at www.va.gov/donate
