James Lee "Bubby" Barr

It is with deep sadness and respect that we announce the passing of James Lee "Bubby" Barr, who left this world on July 18, 2026, in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 37.

Born on May 19, 1989, in Columbus, James brought warmth and light to all who knew him. His life was distinguished by the strength of his relationships and the passion with which he pursued his many and varied interests.

James’s devotion to his family was unwavering. He is survived by his loving mother, Tracey McCoy, and his devoted father, David McCoy, who treasured every moment shared with their son. James’s bond with his siblings was a source of lifelong companionship, laughter, and mutual support; his siblings Danielle Miller and her husband Josh Miller, Darrian McCoy, and Rylie McCoy will always hold dear the memories and warmth James provided. James’s affection for his nephew, Gavin Miller, was evident in every interaction—he cherished the opportunity to witness and encourage Gavin’s growth.

James deeply valued the time spent with friends and family, always seeking out opportunities to connect and find joy in the company of loved ones. Music was an integral part of his life, and he relished attending concerts, immersing himself in the energy and camaraderie these shared experiences brought. Sundays held a special significance for James, as he delighted in watching football and rooting passionately for his favorite teams—Ohio State University and the Buffalo Bills. His loyalty to these teams was matched only by his enthusiasm, and game days were vibrant occasions marked by excitement.

Beyond sports and music, James was known for his creative spirit and his love of building Legos. These quiet hours of construction reflected his patience and imagination, qualities that extended into every aspect of his life. Bowling was another pastime that brought James joy, providing yet another avenue through which he engaged with friends and created cherished memories.

James’s presence was a source of comfort, laughter, and steadfast friendship for those fortunate enough to know him. His sincerity, generosity, and kindness will be deeply missed, leaving a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who loved him.

To honor James’s life, a visitation will be held on July 24, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Southwest, located at 3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio 43123. A funeral service will follow at the same location at 6:00 PM.
