James Dear, 74, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018.
James was born July 20, 1943 to Charles Edward Dear and Leola (Barnes) Adams.
He attended Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church and was in ministries with Kairos and the Care Team Ministry. James served in the United States Army with his sister Donna and they were the first brother and sister team during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from Timken after many years of service and was a member of the American Legion Blake-Blackston Post 77.
James will be deeply missed by his; children Brendalyne (Leroy) Owens, Jacquelyne Dear and Dwayne Banks; grandchildren DaShawnaste, Alexzandrya, Daris, Aerion, Trent, Cory, Gavin and Makalyn; great-grandchildren Jaelyn, Daroz, Celayah, Paisley, Liam and Bailey; brothers William Dear (Sharon), Michael (Jane) Dear; sisters Lillie Ann Dear, Donna Jean (Paulette) Dear and special family Brenda Joyce Dear and Aurelia Dear.
Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother Charles William Dear.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 4pm to 7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home Northeast Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin Granville Rd. Columbus.
Visitation will also be Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 10am to 11am with funeral services to follow at 11am at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church 3161 E 5th Ave, Columbus, OH 43219 with Pastor Michael Reeves officiating.
Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, where military rites will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
