James Leroy Williams, the son of the late Leon and Lena Williams, was born on October 9, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on Tuesday June 9, 2015…He was 68 years old.
James, better known as "Leroy" or "Shug" to his family, entered into the Armed Forces at the age of 17. He received his diploma in the military serving as a nurse in the Army. He would spend 24 years in the Army receiving many honors and medals before retiring, such as the Vietnam Service Medal with 5 Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, and many others. James had various activities that he enjoyed and was an active member of his church. He attended First Baptist Church on Orders Road every Sunday up until his passing.
James is survived by his wife of 31 years, Gale Armstrong-Williams; his stepson and daughter-in-law, David and Sharina Armstrong; his sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Tyrone Cooper; his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Nancy Randall; his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Stacy Mitchell, his sister and brother-in-law, Marie and Earl Fowlkes; his sisters Louise Martin, Glendora Williams, Johanna Henderson; his brother, Thomas Williams; and his grandchildren - Niyah Armstrong, David Armstrong Jr, Daisha Armstrong, Davin Armstrong, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will take place at First Baptist Church on Saturday June 20, 2015 at 11:00 am. The address is 3301 Orders Road, Grove City, OH 43123. Arrangements were handled by Newcomer Funeral Home Grove City.
