Dr. James R. Masters was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and faithful servant of Christ who passed away on February 18th, 2026 at the age of 86. He was born on May 8, 1939 in Zanesville, Ohio.
A man of profound conviction, Jim was a strong Christian who didn’t just speak of his faith—he lived it. As a lifelong faith follower, he sought to reflect the love of Jesus in every interaction, becoming a trusted mentor to many who looked to him for guidance, wisdom, and encouragement.
Dr. Masters graduated from OSU and served his community as a dedicated dentist. Known for his gentle hand and genuine care for his patients, he also performed dentistry with the USAF at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. His calling, however, extended far beyond the walls of his local practice. As a missionary, James traveled to Jamaica, Honduras, Haiti and Russia to provide care to those in need, using his profession as a vessel to share the Gospel and provide relief to the underserved.
He enjoyed life to the absolute fullest, whether he was riding his motorcycle, boating, fishing or skiing. He possessed a contagious joy and enthusiasm for life that reminded everyone around him that every day is a gift.
Surviving family includes loving wife, Cheryl R. Masters, children, Matthew (Tiffany) Masters, Amanda Conley, Michael (Erin) Masters, grandchildren, Keegan, Zion, Chloe, Sam, Hannah, Brady, siblings, Doris Mills, Janet Zook, Bill (Pam) Masters.
While he will be deeply missed, his family finds peace in knowing he is now in the presence of the Lord he served so faithfully.
